KinShift Music Studio Produces Content for the Resistance

A 100-year-old church building is not the place you’d expect to find a recording studio, but to borrow a lyric from one of our JustWorship catalogue songs, “God is doing a new thing” right here in Maplewood, Missouri (St. Louis metro area).

KinShift Music is the global ministry of Kindred UCC, a small church with a big vision to take the justice work they are known for and spread it through music in three ways:

1. JustWorship, a catalogue of new music for worship in these times;

2. KinShift studio, a full-service professional recording studio; and

3. Ambipop, original Indie music rooted in progressive Christian values and written for a mainstream audience.

The KinShift Music studio is in a busy corner of the church with a revolving door of artists – singers, guitarists, bass players, violinists, flutists and more – making music to be shared with the world.

Pastor Monty Jackson is most often at the sound board, but as word gets out, we’re bringing in additional technical talent to support the demand.

A recording artist in his own right, Pastor Monty is also a composer, arranger and performer, having traveled the world performing gospel. He has produced the likes of Grammy-winner Daniel Winans, among others.

KinShift Music Band’s first single and first song in our JustWorship subscription catalogue, Love is Greater Than Fear, was produced in house and is now playing on radio stations around the world. Released on MLK / Inauguration Day (January 20, 2025), the sheet music and chord charts are available to download for free.

In addition to producing other spiritual and crossover artists who align with progressive Christian values of unity, love and inclusion, we’ve also started producing podcasts in the studio. We are seeking to work with musical or spoken word artists and thought leaders who are helping shift the world from kingdom to kindom,
